About 2SC1345 transistors

The 2SC1345/2SC1344 is a vintage transistor from China that was popularly used in audio equipments long time back. The 2SC1345 Transistor is known for is low noise capability and high gain feature. It has a collector current of 100mA and collector to emitter voltage of 50V hence cannot be used in high power audio designs. The transistor also has a very low Base voltage of 5V which makes it suitable for low voltage audio amplifiers or pre-amplifiers. The gain value of the transistor depends on the part number of the transistor; the following table will help you identify the gain value of your transistor.

Part Number

Gain Value (hfe)

2SC1345D

250 to 500

2SC1345E

400 to 800

2SC1345F

600 to 1200

Other than using as a amplifier, the transistor can also be used as low power switch. When used as a switch it can easily by controlled by a MCU/MPU since it has a base voltage of only 5V. It can switch loads upto 50V but has a very low collector current rating of only 100mA so this transistor is not really a good choice to be used as a switch. A better alternative for switching applications will be 2N2222.

However this transistor is outdated and will not be easily available if you are in Asian or European countries. In that case you can try the 2SC2240 transistor from Toshiba semiconductors. The 2SC1345 also has reported problem with producing a hissing noise in audio circuits when they get old, so if you are designing a new circuit it is recommended to try other improved amplifier transistor which have been released in recent times.

Applications

  • Low current switches
  • Pre-amplifiers
  • Low power Amplifier designs
  • Audio frequency amplifier circuits
  • Oscillator circuits
