VEMD4010X01 / VEMD4110X01 - Compact Surface-Mount Photodiodes Eliminates Unwanted Side Illumination and Increases Signal to Noise Ratio

Vishay Intertechnology has come up with two new AEC-Q101 qualified devices in the compact 0805 case size with a low 0.7 mm profile which is 0.15 mm lower compared to preceding generation devices. Featuring Black SMD Packages to eliminate side illumination MALVERN, the surface-mount Automotive Grade silicon PIN photodiodes are best suited for photodetection in solar load sensors, automotive rain, light, and tunnel sensors, light barriers for elevators, garage doors, industrial equipment, and reflective sensors for touchless faucets, toilets, and trash cans.

Named VEMD4010X01 and VEMD4110X01, the two small black packages with opaque side walls increase the signal to noise ratio by eliminating unwanted side illumination. VEMD4010X01 helps detect the visible and near-infrared radiation and offers a wide sensitivity range from 550 nm to 1040 nm. VEMD4110X01 on the other hand features daylight blocking filter (which is matched with 830 nm to 950 nm IR emitters) for 740 nm to 1040 nm infrared applications.

The high-speed photodetectors feature a 0.42 mm² sensitive area, 2.4 µA reverse light current, and 1 nA low dark current and are capable of delivering high sensitivity. These offer fast response times, ± 60° angles of half-sensitivity, a wide temperature range of -40 °C to +110 °C, and 910 nm wavelengths of peak sensitivity. These photodiodes are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green and are capable of providing a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 3 in accordance with J-STD-020 for a floor life of 168 hours.
