The Automotive-Compliant Op Amp with Input Offset Stabilization for High-Precision Applications

Diodes Incorporated has introduced a high-precision operational amplifier (op amp) with input offset (VOS) stabilization specifically designed for automotive signal conditioning applications. The AS333Q, a micro-power single-channel op amp, is a variant of the dual-channel AS2333Q op amp and is optimized for current sensing and signal detection in a wide range of in-vehicle functions, including airbags, position sensors, vehicle occupant detection sensors, on-board chargers (OBC) and wireless chargers, and battery management systems (BMS).

With the increasing use of brushless DC (BLDC) motors and electronic control units (ECU) in automotive designs for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), there is a growing demand for precision op amps to ensure accurate analog signal conditioning. The AS333Q addresses this need with its chopper-stabilized low input offset voltage (VOS = 8µV) and nearly zero temperature drift (0.02µV/°C), allowing it to maintain high accuracy across the full common-mode input voltage range.

Furthermore, the AS333Q can handle common-mode inputs beyond the rail-to-rail range, enabling support for both supply and ground-referenced inputs. Its extremely low 1.1µV/√Hz low-frequency noise contributes to improved signal-to-noise ratios (SNR), while the low quiescent current of 17μA (typical) makes it suitable for applications that need to operate while a vehicle's engine is off.
