STDRIVE101 from STMicroelectronics is an integrated three-phase half-bridge driver IC with optimized performance for low-voltage industrial applications up to 75V. This new device comes with three embedded half-bridge drivers with the ability to sink and source up to 600mA gate current for external N-Channel MOSFETs.

 

Internally generated dead-time for preventing cross-conduction, over-temperature shutdown, and Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO) on both the low-side and high-side sections are some of the protection features of STDRIVE101 that helps in preventing the MOSFETs from operating in low efficiency or dangerous conditions.

 

The integrated bootstrap diodes and a 50mA 12V low-dropout (LDO) regulator for the supply of external components help the designers to reduce the bill of materials. A comparator for over-current detection using external resistors and drain-source voltage monitoring of each MOSFET for short-circuit protection is also provided. The device can act as a space-efficient and power-saving solution to control the three-phase brushless motor in e-bikes, power tools, pumps, fans, light machinery, gaming consoles, and other equipment.

 

The designers can choose to control switching between individual high-side and low side signals or a single PWM signal and enable input with the help of the DT/MODE selection pin. Likewise, the standby pin can be used to set the device in low power mode and turn off the LDO for maximizing energy saving in the idle mode. Packed in a 24-pin VFQFN 4mmx4mm package the STDRIVE101 is available with a price of $0.71 for 1000 units.
