Onsemi introduced its 1200V SPM31 Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs), featuring IGBT-Based Intelligent Power Modules for Improved Heating and Cooling Efficiency. It controls the power flow to motors by adjusting the frequency and voltage of the power supply. These IPMs offer improved efficiency, smaller size, and higher power density, reducing overall system costs. Designed for applications like heat pumps and HVAC systems, they optimize power flow for maximum efficiency. With the latest technology, they decrease power losses by up to 10% and increase power density by up to 9% compared to older models. Ideal for various industrial applications, these IPMs contribute to energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions.

These highly integrated modules incorporate gate-driving ICs, on-module protection features, and FS7 IGBTs, ensuring excellent thermal performance. They can handle a wide range of currents, from 15A to 35A, offering versatility in various applications. With superior power density, the SPM31 FS7 IGBT IPMs provide space-saving benefits and streamline development processes. It also offers additional advantages such as control for gate drivers and protections, low-loss short-circuit-rated IGBTs, negative IGBT terminals for phase support, built-in under-voltage protection (UVP), bootstrap diodes and resistors, and a high-speed high-voltage integrated circuit, all powered by a single-grounded power supply.
