Murata has introduced its new Type 2GT module, a multi-band, low-power radio (LoRa®) module designed to enhance wireless connectivity for IoT devices. This module represents a significant advancement in IoT device development, offering versatile connectivity options while meeting global certification standards, ensuring seamless deployment across various regions and industries. The Type 2GT module measures 9.98 x 8.70 x 1.74mm and features a PCB housed in a metal case, packaged as a land grid array. Its technical capabilities include Semtech’s LR1121 RF transceiver IC, a thermally compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), a second 32KHz crystal, an RF switch, and an RF matching network. These components ensure precise frequency accuracy and reliable performance in diverse environmental conditions.

The Type 2GT module supports multiple frequency bands, including sub-GHz bands, the 2.4GHz ISM band, and the 2.1GHz satellite communications S-band, making it suitable for various IoT applications such as smart agriculture, industrial and environmental sensing, building and home automation, asset tracking, utilities metering, and remote-controlled toys and drones. Its support for the 2.4GHz ISM band enables higher data rates and offers a common channel plan globally, while also avoiding duty-cycle limitations imposed on sub-GHz communications by European standards. Certified to European CE, American FCC, Japanese TELEC, and Canadian IC standards, it simplifies compliance for designers across different regions, fostering innovation in the IoT sector worldwide.
