Infineon Technologies AG has introduced the MOTIX™ TLE9140EQW gate driver IC, specifically designed for brushless DC motors operating in the demanding 24/48 V market. This IC is tailored to meet the higher voltage requirements of automotive motor control applications, ranging from 24 V up to a maximum of 72 V, ensuring enhanced system reliability and faster switching behavior. The TLE9140 serves as an ideal complement to Infineon's MOTIX MCU TLE987x and TLE989x 32-bit motor control SoC solutions, enabling seamless scalability from existing 12 V designs to 24 V or 48 V systems. It offers comprehensive functional safety according to ISO 26262 ASIL B standards and is packaged in a compact TS-DSO-32 package. Key features include high voltage capability up to 110 V, SPI communication interface, and a range of diagnostic and protection functions such as overvoltage, undervoltage, and over-temperature protection. 

Additionally, the TLE9140 incorporates Infineon's patented gate shaping function for adaptive MOSFET control, optimizing system performance for electromagnetic emissions (EMI) and power dissipation. This gate driver IC finds applications in automotive components like pumps, fans, windshield wipers, HVAC modules, and e-compressors, as well as in commercial, construction, and agricultural vehicles, and light electric vehicles such as eBikes, eScooters, and eMotorcycles. Infineon supports the evaluation and design-in process with user-friendly tools including an evaluation board and configuration wizard, facilitating rapid prototyping and integration of the TLE9140 into motor control systems.
