Vishay Intertechnology has introduced new 6 A, 20 A, and 25 A microBRICK synchronous buck regulator modules designed for point-of-load (POL) converters. The Siliconix SiC931, SiC951, and SiC967 are compact with a package size of 10.6 mm by 6.5 mm by 3 mm and offer wide input voltage ranges from 4.5 V to 60 V.

These regulator modules include two MOSFETs, an inductor, and a controller, with minimal external components required for configuration. This compact design increases power density and simplifies designs. In sectors like data centers, telecom infrastructure, and industrial applications, the microBRICK regulators help reduce energy consumption by efficiently delivering power to components.

The devices use a constant on-time (COT) architecture, ensuring fast transient response with minimal output capacitance, ripple regulation at light loads, and stability with different output capacitor types. They also come with a protection feature set, including output overvoltage (OVP) and under voltage protection (UVP), cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection (OCP), short-circuit protection (SCP) with auto-retry, over-temperature protection (OTP), and a power good flag.

Features

  • Wide input voltage range (4.5 V to 18 V) and adjustable output voltage (down to 0.6 V)
  • Achieves up to 95% peak efficiency with minimal supply and operating current
  • Offers programmable switching frequencies, adjustable soft start, and current limit
  • Includes cycle-by-cycle current limit, protection features, and over-temperature protection
  • Compact low-profile MLP package with an integrated high-current output inductor
  • Requires minimal peripheral components, utilizing ceramic capacitors for input and output
